I enjoyed this book. It has plenty of photos and illustrations pertaining to proper grips and throwing motions for target and show knife/axe throwing. I say it is older info because the technology and manufacture of popular throwing knives seems to have changed quite a bit since this was published. Back then, bowie knives and larger throwing weapons seem to have been the weapons of choice, and although those are still available today, the craft seems to have moved in the direction of lighter and smaller blades, which tend to be more palm sized, at least as far as the knives go anyway (and require a bit of adaptation as far as throwing technique from what I have experienced). Either way, I felt this was an informative guide to throwing, and included much history pertaining to knife throwing as as craft and as entertainment. A good book to have on your shelf, available to reference as needed.Enjoy!
Some reviewers have been disappointed with this book, but I must say that all you need is this book, a little time, some open space, and a tomahawk. While I prefer Coldsteel's Norse hawk, and Bad Axe, I have found that the lessons learned in this book, have given me the ability to throw a tomahawk in remarkably little time.In the past, many people have advised me on some truly terrible advice. But, this book has helped me actually throw a tomahawk, and it is filled with interesting adecdotes too. It is everything that I could want from a book on the subject, but I must admit I would be interested in a DVD on the subject as well. If digital photography and video were around when this book was first written, that product would be an exceptional find. But, it is a book that I am reviewing, and I must say that it is well worth the money, and well worth the time it takes to read it.
Old school thrower, good information and I like the history and reading about the techniques they used. Yes, there are books more dedicated to techniques and How To but as a person who's been throwing knives and tomahawks I enjoyed this. Don't get me wrong, it does teach techniques. I think this is a good read for any thrower or somebody interested in throwing.
You majority of the book deals with Knife throwing, there are examples on how to stand how to hold it etc. then you look for the section on Tomahawks and the author talks about known throwers, target creation but no examples.If you want to learn how to throw a tomahawk see the you tube you will learn a heck of a lot more.

A Christmas gift for my husband, because I would rather he have some knowledge on how to safely participate in his new hobby instead of just throwing axes around our yard. I may decide to read it and take up knife throwing as well. Shipped fast. Great little book.
Very little instruction in tomahawk throwing. A lot of history on knife throwing that I'm not interested in.
