My wife needed this for her piano playing. It's written in comfortable large print and is a great addition to the already popular standard size Church Hymnal we have. Stays in place, and the pages and binding materials are very good quality.

I like being able to see the words better in this version as compared to the church book. I wish they made the font/text even bigger however. There is still room on each page (margins) in my opinion would be of better use to enlarge the text even more. Over all I'm ok with my purchase. It does seem over priced. I thought there was an economy of scale which made mass productions more economical to produce and ultimately cost. There are many thicker, less popular books selling for a lot less. For those who wondered about the book, it is very heavy so keep that in mind. I got an extra copy for the piano and it works great for that, staying open flat.

This is an excellent hymnbook for any church that still believes that the greatest church music ever written is that which has stood the test of time. All the old familiar songs are there and this big print edition makes them all very easy to read. Highly recommended.

Love this hymnal and exspecially since it is in large print. The only reason i gave this hymnal 3 stars instead of 5 is because when i purchased this book it cost me almost $34.00 and 2 days later i went back on Amazon to purchase the same book for my mother in law and it was only $24.00. From the same seller by the way. But overall it is a very nice hymnal. It has alot of the older songs and i still like those.

We have a group of us that like to stand around the pulpit to sing and the large print is a hit among the 30 plus age group. The teens that sing either don't need it or prefer to have their own hymnal. I was hoping the print would be larger but it is a good improvement over the regular print. We are playing instruments and that pushes us away from the hymnal to keep from hitting one another with the instruments, so we are a bit far away from the hymnal. The hymnal seems sturdy enough with gentle use it should last years. The spiral binding is nice to have the pages lay out and stay without holding, but it makes it easier for the pages to get torn out with use and accidental roughness.

This hymnal is the only hymnal my church will sing out of. The smaller ones are hard to read. This hymnal is spiral bound and is worth every dollar

This story is beautifully re-told and illustrated for young children. It has all the mystery and magic of the original Grimm tale without the more unsavory elements (for example, the princes mysteriously disappear after failing to discover the secret of the worn dancing shoes instead of being executed). My son loves the hero at the center of the story and how he cleverly solves the puzzle and wins the heart of one of the princesses. My only teensy, tiny complaint is that the hero has a mullet--like full on business in the front, part in the back mullet. My son hasn't noticed and/or cared but I find it impossible not to stare ("why?") while reading this. That being said, I would still buy the book again.

I've said it in another review and I'll say it again: every home should have at least one Ruth Sanderson book in their children's bookshelves, and her retelling of 'The Twelve Dancing Princesses' would be a pretty good choice.The king of a prosperous kingdom has twelve beautiful daughters, but is confused at the state of their shoes each morning - each pair is worn through, although the door to their bedroom is locked. Where are the princesses going and how are they getting out? Many men are sent to guard the princesses with the promise that if they solve the mystery they may gain one of their hands in marriage, but all the young princes disappear by morning. But one day Michael comes to the castle as a helper to the gardener with the magical gift of an invisibility cloak given to him by an old woman on the road. Instantly smitten with the youngest princess Lina, Michael hides in the girls' bedroom under his cloak and watches them creep through a secret trapdoor, through glittering woods and across a vast lake to a castle... but how is a mere commoner supposed to inform the king of this and secure the love of his youngest daughter?Ruth Sanderson once again brings to life a beautiful fairytale with her glorious oil paintings, making this a must for any bookshelf, or lovers of fairytales or fine art. Despite the fact there are twelve princesses, the illustrations are never cluttered, and Sanderson captures water, material, hair and even glances between one figure to another realistically, yet with a whimsical and fantasy touch. If there is one slight flaw, her colours are less bright than in other books - they are mostly pale yellows, blues or greens that give them a slightly washed out look when compared to the vividness of her other books such as 'The Golden Mare, the Firebird and the Magic Ring' and 'The Crystal Mountain', but this is most definitely one of her best narrative retellings. 'The Enchanted Wood' in my opinion still contains her best illustrations, but the story is rather weak. 'The Twelve Dancing Princesses' is the best choice for a melding of both art and storytelling skills.Basically, girls will adore this, parents will love reading it, and if you take the time to persuade boys that is isn't a 'girly' book, then I'm certain they'll be intrigued enough by the mysterious midnight travels through the woods and the cunning of Michael to enjoy it too!

We've read many versions of this story, and this is one of our favorites. The story is more cohesive than some other versions, and we can relate more to the main characters in this one. The illustrations are superb. The elegant detail and rich depictions make it a pleasure to see as well as read. Our two little "princesses" are enchanted by this book, and it's requested frequently.

I loved this book the first time and each time following that I have read it to my grandchildren. I had never read or heard of this story before. This is really fun. However, I wasn't sure before buying what the appropriate age group would be for it. I bought it for my smart three year old, and that was a mistake. Some of the stickers are really small, so some serious fine motor coordination is required. The child must also recognize 2- and 3-digit numbers. I will be giving it to my 7-year-old niece instead.

My husband told me about these books. His friend at work had one and he was fascinated. When I was searching for adult sticker books for him, I stumbled upon the kids version and thought it would make a nice gift. We purchased it for a 9 year old. It is perfect!There are ten designs in the book to be completed. Some are more detailed than others, but all are beautifully designed. The first one took about 30 minutes for the 9 year old, and I donâ€™t anticipate theyâ€™d take much longer than that for the other ones.The pages are all perforated, so you can pull out the corresponding sticker page so you donâ€™t have to flip back and forth between the design and stickers. You also can pull out the pages when done to display them if you want. The stickers are bright and colorful. They are cut precisely and weâ€™ve had no issues with them not being the correct size. I would buy this again and look forward to using the adult sticker book we bought from this company as well.

Kind of like a blend between a puzzle, a paint by number, and a sticker book! My almost 5-year-old loves these books too (he has a different one in the series) and he can do the pictures on his own he just takes a bit longer to find the numbers. Iâ€™ve since bought another one for a nephew and an adult one for my older two kids to share (they are 12 and 10) and they would probably be happy with the kidsâ€™ versions too I just didnâ€™t want them to blow through them to fast! So fun!! Oh and every page is perforated making them easily removed from the book!

My kids absolutely love these sticker books. For reference, my son is 4 and my daughter is 6. My son has a pretty good attention-span for a four-year old. He finished 2-3 of these in about an hour. My daughter finished about 6 "paintings" in a few hours. What I love: helps with early childhood hand-eye coordination (you have to 'flip' the stickers around to get them in the right spot the correct way), and is an awesome learning tool for kids to practice their numbers. The numbers connect to the stickers, so you may have a sticker that is #45 and needs to go in the #45 blank spot. It can be hard for kids three and under to grasp this connection but is perfect for an advanced four year old, five year old, or six year old. The pictures end up looking really pretty as well!

I gave this to my ten year old son at Christmas. We're closing in on a month after Christmas and he has almost finished the book! To say he loves it would be an understatement. He does every page completely independently and greatly enjoys showing us the finished products. I can't remember the last time he actually finished a craft book like this.

Sturdy book - very vibrant. You can cut/tear out the pages for different kids but will need scissors to separate a couple of the groups of stickers into sheets as they used multiple pages for individual groups - but easy and simple to do. Will attach a photo of the back cover - that gives you a quick look at all 10 pages of stickers.

This is a great book! My 5.5 yo really enjoyed it, although he did get discouraged a few times when his fingers couldn't get the stickers to line up just right. It was the perfect addition to our road trip!

Well, my son got one of these books from Samâ€™s and it was AMAZING. He absolutely loved it. So a reward, I got him this one. I decided to see about saving a few dollars & got a â€œusedâ€ one. It had a couple stickers placed but that wasnâ€™t an issue (I expected that). But for some reason the stickers aren't applying & saying very well at all. He still loves the book but get frustrated. Tape works for a few sticker issues but I think we are going to try glue in the future. I donâ€™t know where the book was stored or if something affected the stickers or if this book was just a bad batch? The other book didnâ€™t have any problems. I didnâ€™t not contact the seller, figured it was my bad for trying to be cheap! ðŸ¤£. Again the 1st we got was awesome & we will buy more, this particular instance wasnâ€™t great.

Love how this book is set up! I used this book for my Medication Aid class and am now using it for my Pharmacy Tech program. The amount of information you can find is so useful and this book has so many uses.

This is the 2nd time I have rented this book, the first time it was in excellent condition. I re-rented this and this book is in horrible condition. The front cover is about to fall off and it's wrinkled and stained.

So many excellent recipes throughout this book, well researched and prepared to bring high level cuisine to the level that can be made by the average home "chef". A lot of recipe books have a few good items and lots of filler, you won't find that to be the case here, there are soo many gems all through these pages.

Excellent condition, would highly recommend!

My sister and I are astounded by the umber of truly delicious recipes i the book. I really love the caesar salad recipe.

This cookbook is interesting to read and the recipes sound delicious. The one I have tried, the bruschetta at the beginning of the book, was very successful. I should have expected, but was surprised to see, recipes with so many different cultural influences. "Exotic" ingredients might be a draw back for Alaska bush cooks.

I purchased this as a gift for a friend from Alaska. They enjoyed it very much.

There are a lot of good recipes and ideas for cooking salmon, halibut, shrimp, scallops and crab just like they serve it at your favorite steak and seafood restaurant. Ingredients are easily accessible after a trip to the grocery in the lower 48. But I don't think I would know it was in any way Alaskan cuisine unless the view through the lodge window told me so. The chefs in this compilation are working jobs at high end lodge and restaurants after being trained in the art somewhere else. Lodge clientele are paying top notch rates for their Alaskan fishing or hunting experience so no one is taking any chances with the menu choices. Perhaps that is why there aren't any recipes featuring local Alaskan caribou, wild game, razor clams or arctic char. Just the stuff we see at every seafood counter in the lower 48. I counted more than 50 recipes for salmon, halibut, crab, oysters and scallops while only each for goose, venison, Cornish game hen and a couple of pork, beef and chicken dishes to help out the seafood impaired crowd. I will put this collection next to my Tom Douglas cookbooks for ideas when entertaining out of townies after a trip to Seattle's Pike Market!

A friend had this cookbook and made the Chili Verde recipe. It was excellent. So I had to find it and I was able to order it on Amazon. I have made several of the other recipes now and all of them I would make again. I would recommend this cookbook to anyone.

I bought this book [...] in Anchorage while on vacation to help me cook all the fish we were catching. so far, so Great! the Herb crusted Halibut is wonderful! so is the Barbequed salmon with tomato-caper salad.some recipes are kind of involved, but so worth it!

more like a 4.5 but it's amazing! I would like to warn readers that I am a teenager with no children or siblings who are young enough to appreciate picture books. Additionally I don't babysit that often anymore because I have work. So why did I buy this? I bought this because I need a fairy tale. A tale where the heroine or hero has every negative thing thrown at them but they find the light and overcome. Where the greatest evils are defeated by a greater good. That's what I need. And sometimes children's books and fairy tales provide the most realistic picture of what our life could be like here on earth or to come if we stay good. So my review will mostly be based upon how well it portrays that message.Art: very beautiful, but also dark at some parts. Cinderella's eyes literally look like black sockets sometimes. But it is very beautiful and well done. Some pictures take your breath away.Story: I LOVE IT!!! It is one of my fave!!! I love how cinderella is so strong and brave! She's very kind and sweet yet knows how to stand up for herself. She is the ONLY one who can see the prince and she knows it. And even though she doesn't have as much to offer she does whatever it takes to get what she wants. She's hard-working and I love her. Also it is very romantic how they meetMoral: very good moral. A moral of honesty trumps dishonesty. Hard work will get you what you want. Appearances aren't everything. And my favorite: sometimes the best of what you can do is crappy. But your best is your best and it will work out in the end. LOVE IT!!!Anyway it's a very uplifting story and I would read it. Also shipping is fast!

I bought this book as an extension of the Cinderella story unit that I was teaching to my second graders. This book was an excellent addition to my Cinderella story collection. The students enjoyed this book. At the end of the unit, they are allowed to vote for their favorite story, and they can only vote once. I had 9 students vote for this book as their favorite.It is also a great book to compare/contrast the Disney Cinderella story with. This story is much better. The is a Native American version of Cinderella. It could also be used during a Native American unit when studying their culture. The pictures in this book are beautiful. They also tell part of the story. This book would help with teaching inference.

I first purchased this book with money I had earned when I was either in 2nd or 3rd grade, during a book faire at school.I was into buying my own books back then. I read this book with great enjoyment since it was something I hadpurchased with my own money. Later on in my English class (6th grade) I turned this book into a play script andhad other kids volunteer and play out the story. I got an A+. Alas, the parentals threw away all my stuff after Ijoined the military. I was really sad that among the pictures of my childhood and toys and whatnot,this book among others were lost to me.So glad for sites like Amazon. I was able to buy a brand new one. This story captures the imagination and carries it into the stratosphere.The story, prose and pictures work together so wonderfully, that I consider it a masterpiece.I personnally would feel uncomfortable reading it to children under six. It is a story that any adult can relate to. That at one or more times in our lives we feel either unattractive, alienated and worse, the target of scorn.Our main character is a young, American-Indian girl. Her job for the tribe is to keep the main campfire burning. As a result, over years the floating, hot embers have begun to disfigure and her.she becomes the object of ridicule and abuse from her young peers.The author carries us into tribal legend eloquently, the imagination is hypnotized and the character and the audience are elevated into a wonderful, magical ending.This is a story you will carry well into the future. Incredibly memorable.

I remember reading this book as a child and being fascinated with the artwork and story. As an adult, I now teach art and culture to a bunch of young children every day, with each month focusing on a different culture. When Native Americans came up, I knew I had to order this book to share with them, and the children loved it.

A wonderful story about the beauty of nature and about inner beauty. My daughter liked this book so much she took it to school. Her teacher didn't have time to read it, so my daughter read it to her friends during free time, despite the fact that reading is still a little difficult for her (grade one). The teacher overheard the story, and asked to keep it at the school one more day, so she could read it to the entire class the following day. There's a beautiful rhythm to the text that reveals that this author is a professional storyteller. As it is so re-readable, we have decided to buy it. If you buy it, I'm certain you will be reading it many times.

I was a little disappointed because I thought this was a chapter book. But for a story book, it's top notch.

As a teacher and a parent of a girl, I read a lot of books that are different versions of classic stories. Wonderful story of how kindness, honesty and respect make someone beautiful and worthy, not possessions.

This is a subject, and specific individuals, that have not been given the attention they deserve. I was hoping this book would paint a picture of the true challenges they faced and the things they accomplished in the face of determined public opposition and outright sabotage, in some instances. I was first surprised that the author would use the same title as a much better book "Fly Girls" about the WASPs of World War II. Things got worse when I started reading the book. For a technical subject such as aviation, one would have thought that the author would have had someone with technical knowledge do at least a quick bit of proofreading. Somehow airplanes became "airships." Huh? Airships are dirigibles or blimps. The repeat of that error became painful. Single-engine airplanes were described as having throttles, plural, while multi-engine airplane had a throttle, singular. Technical details regarding aircraft and what goes on in flight were repeatedly wrong - yet the author stressed the importance of the fact that each of those incredible pilots spent an exhaustive amount of time assuring that they didn't miss any technical details when flying. If only the author had done the same.While it moved the story along, a fair amount of the details about the pilots' lives read a bit like a costume drama.Much is made of Louise Thaden's husband developing an all-metal airplane, as if he were somehow cutting edge. He wasn't even close - the Germans were making all-metal transports in World War I and Henry Ford's captive company, Stout, was making them by the mid-1920s.The author repeated the mistaken claim that Richard Byrd was the first to fly over the north pole. That claim was debunked years ago and shouldn't have been in a well-researched book.It might have helped to describe some of the airplanes flown by the women more carefully as some of them were simply awful, requiring a huge amount of skill to fly, and land, safely. Most of the airplanes designed in the 1920s and early 1930s had marginal or worse stability in various axes, lousy control harmony and systems (fuel, electrical, hydraulic) that could be confusing, counter-intuitive and just plain dangerous to a pilot who did not fully understand the details. Such details alone would help to describe just how great the pilots who flew those airplanes great distances (in often hideous weather when weather forecasting was essentially nonexistent) truly were.For someone unfamiliar with the incredible women portrayed in this book, it's a good place to start to learn about them. I'm hoping someone will eventually do a definitive book on those great women. I'm just disappointed I spent the money on this one.

Really, REALLY enjoyed the book. Over the years, I've come to learn snippets of each, but this book has everything in one place. Each of their stories are fascinating but in this book, Mr. O'Brien has spent the time to chronicle much more of the details of the girls that helped to bring aviation into everyone's life. Their stories seem complete .... the accomplishments, the setbacks and in a few cases, the despair each endured in their individual struggle to be recognized as a credible contributor. I'm certain you will enjoy this book if aviation is of interest.

An amazing, heart-pounding, page-turning, tear-jerking true story. Keith Oâ€™Brienâ€™s extensive research and wonderful writing has brought these forgotten women (and men) back to life. Many of us know a bit about Amelia Earhart, but can we name any other pioneering aviators (man or woman) from this age? Get to know the incredible women who fought to fly and to gain respect - you wonâ€™t be able to put this down and you will miss them when you finish the book!

And 5 stars beyond those! This book is a well researched and indexed history of a forgotten battle for womenâ€™s rights. Not only a great read, I found it hard to put down. So glad I decided to read it.

Read for book club. Was recommended by Parade Magazine. This book was written in reporter writing style meaning all overall details were given even if the details did not add to the story; therefore although this is a short book, under 200 pages, it was a hard read. When this book was reviewed by our book club, the majority of our members agreed. I would not recommend this book.

A classic cover the pretty ones and ignore everyone else treatment of an important piece of history. Pancho Barnes gets one sentence in this book. Other important female aviators of the day are similarly ignored of given no treatment in this lazy book. There are better books about this event.

This book was very enjoyable and so well researched. I never knew there were so many women who were willing to attempt the things that these pilots dared to do! Very courageous and completely in love with flying.
