About the Author
MARK KELLEY is an award-winning Alaskan photographer. Mark placed Best in Show in the 2017 North American Nature Photography Association Showcase Competition and he won a 2013 Nature s Best Windland Smith Rice Photography Award in the Outdoor Adventure Category. His work in journalism has been recognized by the Alaska Press Club, the National Press Photographers Association, and the Society of Professional Journalists. Mark Kelleys deep roots in photojournalism still influence his work today and he calls himself a nature photojournalist . His books have sold over a quarter million copies. Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska, Alaskas Tracy Arm and Sawyer Glaciers, and Alaska: A Photographic Excursion are Benjamin Franklin Award winners; his kids book Once Upon Alaska is a Mom s Choice Awards® Gold recipient. Mark lives in Juneau with his wife, Jan, and their two grown sons also call Juneau home. Mark s late family dog, Rosie, often accompanied Mark on his journeys to the Mendenhall Glacier ice caves. NICK JANS is one of Alaskas most recognized and prolific writers. A longtime contributing editor to Alaska Magazine and a member of USA Todays board of editorial contributors. As a former resident of Juneau, it was nice to find a book on the glacier and to see how far it has gone back over the years. Mark Kelley is a wonderful photographer, he finds places that most of us would never see.
