I enjoyed this collection! Easy reading, the characters fast become part of your thoughts throughout the day. The Christmas quilt is a wonderful way to pass love down through generations, keeping family history alive.

I am once again amazed at the depth of writing and emotion the authors has given us. I loved that it not only included a story from Wanda, but also from Jean and Richelle. Each story is like a sweet song that you hear to gently calm you. The characters are so vivid that you want to be friends with them. I really didn't want the book to end because I felt like I had found people who were caring, loving and willing to help others without complaining. It is very family oriented and I loved how they made sure to have meals together. The love that the family members had for each other was well defined in each story. I hope the authors write another book together.Luella's Promise by Wanda BrunstetterIt was easy to like Luella because she was so giving and compassionate. I loved how she stepped up and took care of her ailing friend Dena and her family. My tears flowed as Dena gave Luella such a precious gift and asked her to make a promise to care for her family when she was gone. I can't imagine how hard it was for Luella as she became close to Daryl and Atlee. I loved reading how nurturing Luella was with Daryl . Atlee is grieving and trying to do the best he can raising his son. It's funny how gossip starts when Atlee and Luella are seen in town together. What does Luella's parents think of her spending so much time at a widower's home? Will their age difference keep them from falling in love with each other? I loved the theme of compassion, love and helping in the story.Karen's Gift by Jean BrunstetterI loved how the story seamlessly continued from Luella's Promise. Karen is now grown and has a family of her own. I loved how she embraced being married and caring for her family. When they find out that their baby has something wrong with her, I thought the author did a great job of showing how they cope with it. I thought Seth was a wonderful husband and I did like the part about him going to his dad when things are burdening him. He is having a rough time at work and I sympathized with him when he had to deal with a co-worker. He has his hands full with three children and another on the way. Will Karen and Seth be able to handle the responsibility of raising a large family? Overall the story was good and I loved how the families come together to help each other out.Roseanna's Groom by Richelle BrunstetterWhat a wonderful story this was. I loved reading about Roseanna and her dilemma when her soon to be husband runs away during the wedding ceremony. What would you do if that happened to you? Roseanna is devastated and seemed to blame herself for John leaving. I really enjoyed the time Roseanna spent with her family while working through her problems. It was nice to see her rely on listening to God and not rushing to make a decision. The story gets a bit complicated when an old boyfriend of Roseanna's shows up. Will Roseanna decide to start a courtship with her old boyfriend? Can John learn to forgive himself ? I especially liked this story because it brought the entire family back together and how precious The Beloved Christmas Quilt was to pass down to a family member. I loved the book and have to say it was my favorite because it brought three generations together writing and working together.I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and the author. I was under no obligation to post a review.

This is all any law student really needs, but of course, the law schools and the publishers make millions of dollars (business) from the unnecessary purchasing (rarely read by 1 L's) Hornbooks and Casebooks. Hornbooks and Casebooks have their place in the practice of law and in the more advanced stages of law study 2L and 3L. However; in the preliminary orientation to law study, 1L law study summaries are really all that is needed.

Outline is scattered and not in a logical order. I don't recommend spending any minute on this book, unless if you desperately need additional resources to help w/ confusing concepts, only after reading lecture notes, your casebook, and E&E.

The Gilbert's gives you the most important information from the casebook in a fantastic format that is easy to use.A solid case brief book will really tie things up nicely. With a case brief book - also research the case on the Internet or Lexis to get some background information that the case brief book will not give you - to get the big picture of the case.The Gilbert's gives you the black letter law you need, I highly recommend Gilbert's!

This is an excellent purchase, even if you don't have one of the books to which this supplement is keyed. I recommend it for anyone trying to learn Contracts. One word of advice, however, is to start with this book early on and stick with it as you move through the sections in your class. Waiting until the last minute can mean that you're spending too much time trying to review this book (and figure out where the various sections are), and not enough time actually outlining.

Book for class; fits the bill

I am a legal studies major and I am taking a contract law class this semester. Someone suggested that I buy this book because it is what first year law students use for Contracts. I wanted to see if this book breaks down some of the convoluted scenarios better than the text we are using for class. I am very happy to say that it is a great book and is helping to supplement the text. I am also impressed that the book really is in "very good" condition as stated on the Amazon and Sellers site. I was hoping that it really was not marked up as so many of the used books I purchase for school. This book was well taken care of and is almost like new.

I had read about this author and his research and was curious about his case studies. Some of these we have already heard about or seen on a television program. I am a big fan of the late Carl Sagan who commented in his own book about the possibility of past lives, since so much evidence was being presented in these cases, worldwide, of children who appeared to remember one or more of them. Good topic for discussion. The last chapters I mostly skipped, as the author bogs down into his own personal opinion of how this could be happening (shared dream, etc). Except for that, it is certainly interesting to consider the possibility that we have all been here before and will be here again -- born again and eternal life.

Reincarnation is a fascinating and mysterious subject to most of us in the west who were raised on “Christian Themes” that reject this idea. Yet, most religions and inhabitants on Earth not only believe in reincarnation, but also take it as a “GIVEN” truth. “Return to Life” does a wonderful job of revealing many of the amazing stories of past lives recalled by youngsters around the world. Based on the decades of research and case files of noted Virginia University professor Ian Stevenson, the author (and Dr. Stevenson’s associate) Dr. Jim B. Tucker, gives a clear and accessible review of the most compelling and convincing stories. Yet, in his conclusion, the author offers his own concept that the reality of our existence in this “physical-world” is nothing more than a shared dream. I pause on this idea, and feel reluctant to embrace that conclusion, mainly because it seems almost too simple. I conclude that it may approach the truth, but that a far greater reality is going on, and that from our anthropomorphic viewpoint is illusive and inconceivable. I think the word “dream” is very inadequate, and too surreal, to do justice to the idea of our greater reality . . . as a spirit that lives an eternal existence, in and out of physical incarnation. No, I think we need a new word, a new definition, an entirely new concept, with it’s own terminology to describe and define this greater understanding of what we already know on the most subliminal level . . . who we are? What we are? excellent book but not for I must say, stupid people. you need average IQ to grasp this especially the discussion at the end of the book. of course the entire subject of reincarnation is highly debatable however I found it to be an interesing read. the author went out of his way to fact check what these children conveyed.

This book recounts many case studies involving children who seem to be recalling their previous lives. Through interviews and research, the author tries to find evidence that what the child is recalling is in fact the life events of a person who passes away previously. Some of the cases seem to strongly suggest that the child had lived that life before. These cases made the first part of the book a good read.Toward the end of the book the author takes us through a discussion on quantum physics. That's where he lost my interest. The last chapter he hypothesizes that we are all in this shared dream. Here again, he lost me. I had difficulty following his logic and the explanations seam to wonder off in different directions.If you like reading about past-life, mediums, and parapsychology you will enjoy most of the book.

I think the book is well written, the objective seems to be to raise public awareness about reincarnation. Its almost a taboo topic that no one talks about — i am glad that Dr Tucker consolidated some of his cases into a book that is accessible to the general public vs hard-to-understand publications in journals.I got through 80% of the book in one night, gave me goosebumps when i read about the possession cases. The quantum mechanics stuff is interesting because its an attempt at an explanation for these cases. One reviewer who claims that its a “feeble” attempt, but i guess, at the end of the day, Tucker himself does not know the “mechanisms” for reincarnation. There are still a lot of unknowns.Read with an open mind. Just because i don’t have memories of reincarnation does not mean that it does not exist.

The research shared in this book will stretch your mind in new and surprising ways. His "proof" of reincarnation is incredibly convincing. His ideas about the dream world, new physics, the intermission between lives and more astounding ideas are marvelous to contemplate. Truly there is much unknown, and in this book some of the previously unknown waves at us.

It might be inconvenient to believe in reincarnation. First you are your own saviour. Yes Great masters can help but you have work to do too. Christians who believe Christ did it all for you on the cross will balk at this and attack it. But Truth exists outside their dogma and it's truth that sets you free. Thus the bible states as yee sow so shall yee reap. So get busy sowing love and compassion because t your next life on earth is determined by your actions in this one. it's the only way things are fair and God is very fair and just. To them that overcome I shall send you out no more. As Christ said Cheer up I have overcome this world, no yee not that her are Gods. Once you overcome this ego material world your God nature resurfaces and you live as you were meant to in omnipresent all poweful, blissful spirit.

Not exactly what I expected. I expected more of the kids stories and less of the how the stories were collected.

Powerful story, fine art, an intriguing mix of stories within stories. Basically we have a set of back stories illuminating the lives of the heroes, mixed with intercut 'documents' and an overarching narrative concerning a putative plot to eliminate the heroes so that some grand, dark event can occur without their interference. To summarize would be to spoil. Suffice to say, that all of the narrative lines converge, an event occurs and the aftermath becomes the subject of controversial reflection. As the main narrative proceeds, a second narrative parallels it (from a comic book read by a young bystander within the principal narrative). The interplay between these two narratives is central to the final resolution, in my opinion, but I can't describe it without spoiling the principal narrative. The architectonics of the plots are very impressive and engaging, though the greatest amount of attention is likely to be focused upon the aftermath of the 'event' and the degree to which one 'agrees' with it. Highly recommended. This is the graphic novel as true art.

Watchmen is, in my opinion, the greatest literary achievement of the greatest comic writer ever. In the mid 1980’s DC Comics reached its absolute artistic peak. From 1984 to 1986 DC handed Swamp Thing over to Alan Moore, released Crisis on Infinite Earths, published Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns and in one final magnificent achievement gave to the world Alan Moore’s Watchmen. I was 15 years old when Watchmen was published and it was an absolutely mind blowing series. This is a REALLY dark story and I mean that in the sense that it can be downright depressing particularly for someone raised on superhero comics.There are currently three different versions of Watchmen books currently available. There is the Absolute Edition which I own but have never actually unwrapped. It’s more of a collectible for me and the giant size of the Absolute Editions make them unwieldy for a little bedtime reading. There is the paperback version which is easily the least expensive and there is the Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition hits the sweet spot. With a hardbound cover it’s more durable, the quality of the paper is much higher than in the paperback and the colors are more vibrant. The Absolute Edition may be the pièce de résistance of Watchmen books but I’d rather curl up with the second best looking book if it means holding 2.2 pounds rather than 5.9. The Deluxe Edition contains 32 pages of extra material not present in the paperback edition including sketches and notes on Watchmen. It’s not super thrilling but it’s nice to have some extras.Watchmen is the greatest usage of the comic medium I have ever seen. Creating a 12 issue mini-series is a difficult task in trying to pace out the story but Alan Moore’s nails it. The story perfectly fits, never drags and never feels rushed. It’s like every panel and every sentence is crucial to the story. Perhaps Alan Moore’s crowning achievement is the creation of Adrian Veidt who is in my opinion the greatest adversary in the history of comics. Comics are rife with hyper intelligent super villains and heroes, the problem is they are written by non-hyper intelligent writers. Adrian Veidt is the first comic character that legitimately seemed to be on an intelligence level beyond the rest. I never felt that way reading Lex Luthor or Doctor Doom or Brainiac. I encourage people to read all the extra material that appear between issues to get an even greater sense of Veidt.Veidt may be the crowning achievement of Alan Moore but it’s hard to argue that the Comedian, Dr. Manhattan and Rorschach aren’t his near equal in amazingness. Some may find one or more of them to be superior to Veidt. Rorschach in particular shows the strength of Moore in that he was capable of creating a compelling and sympathetic character despite having the polar opposite political views. Right leaning writers like Frank Miller and Steve Ditko would never EVER being capable of giving a left leaning hero such honest treatment. Not in a million years. Dr. Manhattan is as close as any writer has come to creating a character who exists beyond space and time. Grant Morrison did a pretty good job with Captain Atom in Multiversity but Dr. Manhattan remains the king.Any comic fan who has never read Watchmen is missing out on the greatest graphic novel ever. This is a book I could read every year for the rest of my life and I have no doubt I would be amazed with each reading. It’s nearly 30 years since its publication and nothing has even approached it. I always search for the next Alan Moore and I never find one. Even the recent works of Moore have moved further and further away from the quality of Watchmen. Maybe we have seen the best there will ever be and maybe this is the most reasonable version given price and portability. If so go buy it. NOW!!!

Describing Watchmen is very hard. The story itself is less important than the themes that story unearths and the backdrop. Watchmen is about morality, it's about politics, it's about humanity, it's about what being a superhero is, it's about comics in general, and it's about power. I don't want to put down the plot, but like art-films, you don't read this for the story. You read it for the elegance through which the themes are developed. It's a slow burn story that packs one hell of a punch in the end, but isn't necessarily something you'll care about for the majority of the book.The big question is whether it's a good place to start in comics. I wouldn't recommend this as the first thing you pick up due to how dark it is, and how you should have some idea of how comics function normally to see how well they're being subverted and twisted here. Of course, since pop culture is stuffed full of superheroes right now it's not something you really need to worry about if it is the first thing you pick up.The biggest problem that would stand if you picked this up for the first time is that it doesn't really introduce you to the wider world of DC comics. Yes, it's a wonderful story, and if you want to add diversity to your shelf and play around in the corners of the comics world, it's wonderful. But if you want to read superhero comics and want an introduction to that world, this is the wrong place to go. I do understand there was a set of prequel comics released at one point, but they aren't written by Alan Moore (and he actually hates that they happened, if I understand it correctly) and didn't last very long. I, personally, have no plans to read them since I'm not really interested in seeing what happened before this book.My opinion of the whole graphic novel: wow it was amazing! It was not what I expected but I loved it all the way through. In no way did I expect it to take me this long to read, and it does disappoint me that it did, but every second really was a pleasure. If it's been something you've debated I recommend picking it up sooner rather than later, even if it's just from your library.TL;DR? It's not the best place to start, but is a wonderful book I recommend everyone read at some point in their lives.

I loved this book because:- Michael Wex's speaking/writing stye captures the essence of treasured memories of early childhood.- It made me cry.- It made me laugh.- It made me remember.Maybe not for everyone. I bought it for a dear friend whose response was "Feh. Ferkakteh chazerai." She found it abrasive. Not me. I've listened to it twice.

I love Yiddish, not only as a language, but especially why it developed, its many levels of coded--even apocalyptic--language, and the essential spirituality that defined a cultural identity. Wexman's "Just Say Nu" is a bit more fluffy than his best work, "Born to Kvetch," but that's OK. It's somewhat different in orientation than a book like "Joys of Yiddish." The serious note is never far away, even amidst the "Nu." It doesn't put the phrases in their original context, as "Kvetch" does. But it's a good book, and anyone who loved "Kvetch" will like this, too.

I really liked it. Some of the expressions and situations he chose were really funny. I wish they'd have been written in Yiddish in addition to having been transliterated. Also, the dialect/accent in which he transliterated isn't the one I'm used to...but that's just a personal thing. I can adapt most of it, and speaking like a Galitzianer sometimes is fine too. But the book's hilarious and educational. I recommend it.

This is a great book with all of the idioms of "real" Yiddish, that you will never learn at a YIVO class. The author describes the "zaftike" expressions of "poylishe yidn" with great talent. Frankly there were one or two places where his etymology is suspect (at least to me) and his transliteration system takes some getting used to (even for those of us who speak Yiddish fluently.) Notwithstanding these minor shortcomings it is an excellent work that deserves to be in the bookshelf of every serious Yiddish student, teacher, and speaker. Alot of these expressions are dying out even among the Yiddish-speaking Orthodox communities, where subtle language shift is taking place, and some of the racier expressions are never used by them in any case. Familiarizing yourself with these idioms will make it a helluva lot easier to read Isaac Bashevis Singer (and others) in the original.It is less "cutesy" than "Born to Kvetch", which I also recommend highly.

This is an instructive and entertaining audio book. That being said, it would make more sense to read the print edition first. Doing so would enable a person to (1) see how Yiddish words are spelled and (2) recognize cognates in other languages, for example, German. Both of these advantages would yield a derivative benefit, namely, an increased likelihood of actually remembering the Yiddish words and phrases that the author discusses.

This is a good book that has Yiddish words with the context in which they are used and the history and cultural context they developed in. It's not the mostcomplete guide but it's very interesting. If all your Yiddish speaking relativesare gone, it's a little reminder of the old days.
